Pastor Joel Rodriguez grew up in Richmond, CA, and is a Bay Area native. He was born into a Christian home and at a very young age was helping out his dad who is an ordained Pastor with the Assemblies of God, in church playing drums and bass guitar for worship. In his early adulthood, he began to preach, and teach and was the youth leader at his church. He also began to attend Bible college in the evenings but never thought it would be helpful in the pursuit of his dream job. Even though he was prophesied over several times while growing up that he was called to be a Pastor, he wanted to go into Law Enforcement and did not want to go full-time into ministry.

In 2018, he was finally successful in becoming a law enforcement officer and began working his dream job. It was while he was away for training in Atlanta, GA that God spoke to him and told him that he was calling him to the ministry and that he was in the wrong place. Pastor Joel then came back home and began finishing his Bible classes so he could be credentialed with the Assemblies of God (AG) and begin to pursue the calling God had put on his life.

In March of 2022, one month after becoming credentialed, he was presented with the opportunity to Pastor Sacred Church! God’s timing is perfect!

Pastor Joel is married to Melissa Rodriguez, a Marriage and Family Therapist, and worship leader at Sacred Church; together they have two amazing young boys Avi & Jonah.

As Pastor Joel says every Sunday: Remain faithful to God in everything and be humble. His vision for Sacred Church is found in Micah 6:8. What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
